HAYDEN STATISTICS

       

Hayden, CO is a quaint town of western Routt County, incorporated in 1906.

Just 20 miles west of Steamboat Springs along U.S. Highway 40, Hayden rests at 6,337 feet in elevation. The estimated population in 2003 was 1,585.                  

Historically a center of coal mining and agriculture; Hayden today consists of a small cluster of homes and businesses; a wonderful local community to the resort town of Steamboat Springs. The town of Hayden is named after Ferdinand Hayden, a surveyor who traveled through western Colorado during the late 19th century.

Hayden also is home to the Yampa Valley Regional Airport, a portal to all of Northwest Colorado, including the resort and recreation destination of Steamboat Springs.
